Full job description

Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (LMHCA or LSWAIC)

Remote (Washington State) | W-2 Employee

About Campion Counseling

Campion Counseling is a Bellingham, Washington-based mental health practice providing inclusive, affirming counseling services throughout Washington State via telehealth.

We’re a small practice by design. We value genuine human connection, curiosity, authenticity, client autonomy, and a healthy sense of humor. Our work tends to be relational rather than transactional, and many of our clients maintain long-term therapeutic relationships with their counselors.

We are LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink-affirming, ENM/poly-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming, and sex-positive. We believe clients are the experts on their own lives, and our role is to help them better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and move toward the life they want to create.

We’re not looking for a therapist who has memorized every modality. We’re looking for someone who builds strong therapeutic relationships, thinks critically, adapts to the person in front of them, and genuinely enjoys this work.

About the Role

This position is primarily a remote telehealth role serving clients throughout Washington State.

Our counselors maintain a scheduled caseload of approximately 30 client sessions per week. We recognize that good clinical work includes more than face-to-face sessions, so counselors are provided paid administrative time at a ratio of one administrative hour for every three client hours worked. This time may be used for documentation, treatment planning, client communication, consultation, and other clinical responsibilities.

We offer considerable flexibility in scheduling. Clinicians largely build their own schedules, determine when they work, and manage their caseloads independently while receiving ongoing support, consultation, and supervision.

While support is always available, this position is best suited for clinicians who are comfortable working independently, taking ownership of their caseload, and managing the day-to-day responsibilities of outpatient practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counseling services via telehealth
  • Conduct intake assessments and establish diagnoses when clinically appropriate
  • Develop and maintain treatment plans, including six-month treatment plan reviews
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes for every session
  • Maintain client communication and caseload management, including outreach to clients who have fallen out of care
  • Assess and respond appropriately to safety concerns, crisis situations, and mandatory reporting obligations
  • Coordinate care with outside providers, schools, medical professionals, and other supports when clinically appropriate
  • Complete clinical letters and documentation as needed, including ESA letters, disability paperwork, court-related documentation, and similar requests
  • Participate in supervision, consultation, and ongoing professional development
  • Maintain ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice
  • Utilize SimplePractice for scheduling, documentation, and client management

Supervision and Support

LMHCAs receive weekly clinical supervision from Annalisa Ochiltre, MA, LMHC.

Our supervision approach is practical, supportive, and focused on helping clinicians grow into confident, independent practitioners. Supervision regularly includes:

  • Case consultation
  • Diagnostic support
  • Documentation review and support
  • Ethical and legal consultation
  • Practice development and professional growth
  • General support navigating the realities of clinical work

Annalisa’s supervision style is direct, pragmatic, supportive, and encouraging. The goal is not to create dependency but to help clinicians develop the confidence and competence needed for long-term success in the field.

Benefits

  • W-2 employment
  • Fully remote work
  • Flexible scheduling
  • 20 days paid time off annually
  • $500 monthly health stipend
  • $50 monthly internet stipend
  • Access to online continuing education resources
  • Weekly clinical supervision included
  • Dedicated paid administrative time for documentation, treatment planning, client communication, and other clinical responsibilities (1 admin hour for every 3 client hours worked)

QualificationsRequired

  • Active Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate (LMHCA) credential
  • Ability to legally provide counseling services within Washington State
  • Strong clinical judgment and professional boundaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while remaining engaged with supervision and consultation
  • Comfort working with diverse client populations and presenting concerns
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Preferred

  • Previous experience providing counseling services in outpatient, community mental health, or private practice settings
  • Experience providing telehealth services
  • Experience working with LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse, kink, and/or ENM/poly populations

Who Thrives Here

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Build warm, authentic therapeutic relationships
  • Understand that the therapeutic relationship is often more important than any particular modality
  • Adapt your approach to the individual client rather than relying on a single therapeutic model
  • Can tolerate ambiguity and complexity without rushing to give advice or solve problems
  • Bring warmth, curiosity, authenticity, and appropriate humor into the therapy room
  • Enjoy working independently and taking ownership of your work
  • Value client autonomy and empowerment
  • Are flexible, open to feedback, and committed to ongoing growth

You may be less comfortable here if you prefer highly structured environments, extensive administrative oversight, or a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Campion Counseling is committed to creating an inclusive environment for both clients and staff. We encourage applications from clinicians of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences and are dedicated to fostering a workplace where diversity is valued and respected.
