Here are some of the benefits of working at SAS:

Ability to set your own schedule

  • You can work whatever days you want, and can work less than 5 days per week if you like.
  • You get to set your own hours, starting and ending your work days when you choose.
  • You can choose the caseload size that works for you, from 18 to 30 patients per week.
  • You'll be required to work from our downtown office 3 days per week, but can work from home otherwise if you'd like to do so.

Beautiful office space

  • Our offices are located in a beautiful historic building just blocks from Pike Place Market (a great place to spend your lunch break).
  • All our offices are furnished with beautiful high-end furniture, art, a variety of lush live plants, and so on - all thoughtfully put together to create a therapeutic space both for our patients and for our clinicians.
  • Staff have the ability to customize the decor in their office to better suit their needs and personality.
  • All cleaning and plant care is provided by our administrative team, so you never have to worry about vacuuming, watering, taking out the trash, etc.

Ability to earn much more than you would in another setting

  • One reason our therapists earn more than therapists in other settings is that they're much more consistently full.
  • We also command higher fees than most other practices in the area (owing to a number of factors, including our great reputation in the community for offering competent, specialized, evidence-based care).
  • Our pay structure also plays an important role here. We have one of the most generous compensation structures in the industry. We pay our employees extremely well, not just in absolute terms, but also as a percentage of the revenue they generate.
  • Our pay is commission based, so you earn more the more you work.
  • We currently pay $137.50 to $206.25 per clinical hour for individual psychotherapy and higher income is possible for those running groups or doing psychological testing.

Access to great benefits

  • Our clinicians have access to great benefits including health insurance , reimbursement for continuing education, Family and Medical Leave, Workers Comp,, Vision and Dental, Life Insurance, 401(k) retirement matching, and more!
  • We also provide the peace of mind that you're a W2 employee, rather than 1099, which provides a variety of meaningful/enhanced benefits and better liability protection for you.

A great team

  • We have a great admin team that will take care of everything from bookkeeping and accounting, to scheduling and faxing, to billing and marketing, and so on and so forth. We even have plans to bring on an additional admin assistant in the near future to make sure the needs of our clinical team are always seamlessly met.
  • You'll have access to clinical consults with our clinical director and our medical director, as well as ethics consults with our executive director and with our lawyer.
  • The other clinicians at the practice are kind and thoughtful people who love their work and love working with one another. They'll be available for consultations - and in teaming up with them as part of a care team you'll be able to provide effective and comprehensive care.
  • We've had several cohorts of clinical interns in the past, and plan to re-launch our internship program at some point in the future, so we anticipate plenty of opportunities for you to engage in mentorship where you have the desire to do so. There is also the possibility of developing an externship/fellowship program, as well as a psychiatric residency program, down the road.

You get to focus on what matters

Normally, in private practice, you have to spend an inordinate amount of time working (or waiting) to get people in the door . . . either that, or you have to spend half of your working hours on the phone arguing with insurance companies. Joining an established and respected private pay clinic means you get to spend much more time on professional development, reflecting on your time with patients, discussing your work with colleagues, and taking good care of yourself, than you would otherwise—and you get to spend less time getting burned out on the endless busywork and stress associated with building and running a business or dealing with insurance companies.

Freedom from expenses

A traditional worry that plagues those in private practice is “what if all (or most of) my patients leave and then I’m suddenly not only not making any money but I’m also on the hook for all these expenses!"

These expenses include things like their commercial lease for which one must sign a personal guarantee. In the worst case environment, you could be spending tens of thousands per year trying to turn things around.

You won’t ever make negative money at our practice. Even in the most catastrophic of circumstances, you’re never on the hook for any practice expenses. The practice will cover malpractice insurance, continuing education trainings, commercial lease payments, accounting, marketing, and everything else required to keep the lights on and help you do your job as effectively as possible. You get to focus on being a great clinician without the burden of worrying about the financial health of the practice.

Pay substantially lower taxes (tens of thousands of dollars lower)

In private practice, and in most group practice settings, you are forced to pay much higher taxes on your income because you’re treated as a sole proprietor or an independent contractor. In these arrangements, you’re forced to cover the employer portion of payroll taxes that are owed on your income. We treat you as a full fledged W2 employee, with all the benefits that entails, including covering the employer payroll taxes, so you don’t have to worry about a tax bill sneaking up on you at the end of the year. This means that you stand to save thousands of dollars each year that you would otherwise have to pay.

Earn substantially more than you would in a typical private practice

Although the compensation of our clinicians varies depending on a number of factors, our clinicians reliably earn more than their colleagues that work in other medical, group practice, or private practice settings. This has a lot to do with not having to spend their time doing anything other than seeing patients and focusing on their professional development. It’s also a function of the huge number of patients that reach out to us every week. When all other business related tasks are taken care of, it’s easier to see more patients; and with the large number of referrals we receive, it’s easier to stay consistently full. This means less stress and a bigger paycheck.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

We know that having people from many different backgrounds, abilities and life experiences on our team makes us stronger people and more skillful service providers for our patients.

Seattle Anxiety Specialists does not discriminate on the basis of Age, Ancestry, Color, Creed, Disability, Gender Identity, Marital Status, National Origin, Parental Status, Political Ideology, Race, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Use of Service Animal, Military Status, Veteran Status, Use of Section 8 Certificates, or any other status protected by law.

This policy applies also to internal promotions, training, opportunities for advancement, terminations, outside vendors, organization members and customers, the patients we serve, our use of contractors and consultants, as well as dealings with the general public.
