Clinicial Mental Health Counseling
Psychological Counselors provide mental health counseling to students who are experiencing difficulties that interfere with their ability to succeed academically. Counselors provide consultative services to individuals and groups associated with Eastern Washington University around issues pertaining to the psychological well-being of members of the university community. Psychological Counselors are also responsible for facilitating crisis intervention and risk assessment services to students and the greater university community. A psychological counselor assumes responsibility for the development and coordination of services and initiatives in an area of student concern/need in consultation with the Clinical Director. A Psychological Counselor is expected to prepare and deliver educational materials and/or preventive services that address the developmental, interpersonal, and other psychological issues of particular relevance for a university population. Counselors are expected to fulfill and maintain professional licensure in the State of Washington.

The salary for this position is $69,947 (minimum) up to $75,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.   • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from a regionally accredited institution in higher education.
  • Counseling theory and treatment models, diagnostic criteria, psychotropic medication knowledge, and knowledge related to the cultural implications of service delivery.
  • Advanced clinical counseling skills, case conceptualization and case presentation skills, risk assessment skills, clinical writing skills.
  • We are only accepting fully licensed staff (LP, LMHCLICSW), OR Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associates (LMHCA) with full licensure expected within 3 years of the hire date.
  • A minimum of one-year supervised practicum/internship experience.
  • Experience providing individual and group counseling and outreach services.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
Monday-Friday 8 to 5, with occasional evening and weekend hours. This position is typically a 12-month role; however, candidates may have the option to work an 11-month schedule, depending on organizational needs and discussions with the selected candidate. Details regarding the work schedule will be finalized during the hiring process.
